Another in the series of Professor Heinrich Hoffmann photo books produced during the Third Reich of German Chancellor Adolf Hitler, this 132 page, 7-1/2x 10-1/2 inch soft cover volume is titled Mit Hitler im Westen (With Hitler in The West), 1940 as published by Zeitgeschichte Verlag in Berlin. It is from the 551,000- 600,000 printing.
One of the best of all the Heinrich Hoffmann photo documentaries is this one which tells the story all Germans were longing to hear in 1940 - Victory in the West!
From the first moments of the attack through Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and France, this book documents the German offensive all the way to Dunkirk, to Paris and even the extremely humiliating surrender of France in the railway car in the forest of Compiègne and the famous early morning visit to Paris with his friend Heinrich Hoffmann and architect Albert Speer, which is well documented in this book.
Also shown are Hitler’s visit to his old World War I field quarters in Belgium, his Felsennest Führer bunker, Hitler handing out Knights Cross of the Iron Cross medals to his Fallschirmjäger (paratroopers) at Eben Emael, Generals (Göring, Von Rundstedt,Von Brauchitsch, Raeder, Dr. Todt, etc.), with his soldiers and with his wounded.
The example of Mit Hitler im Westen is in very good condition and comes with the original dust jacket. The dust jacket of this 67 year old books shows wear and has advertising for other Hoffmann Bildbände on the back flap:
