THE PERFECT HANDBOOK FOR
A SELF-GUIDED TOUR!

This book is based in part on a heavily illustrated German booklet published in Linz, Germany (now Austria) in April 1938 to celebrate the political reunion* of Austria with Germany a month earlier. In text and photos, the book focuses in great detail on the buildings, towns, people and places connected with the birth and childhood of Germany's 23rd Chancellor, Adolf Hitler.

The word “Heimatland” means “Native Land” or “Homeland” in German. Hitler’s native land was an area in the west-central shoulder of the present country of Austria - an area known as Oberösterreich or Upper Austria. The history of that area and of the ancestors of Adolf Hitler that lived there and in Lower Austria (Hietler, Hütler, Hytler, etc., etc.) is traced back over 500 years in this book.

The rare 60-year old German language booklet mentioned in the first paragraph above, is reproduced on pages 11 - 26 in this book in its entirety. It is followed by a very thorough and accurate American translation, an epilogue, appendix, readers notes, a comprehensive bibliography, the Hitler family tree, maps including Hitler’s travels, and many current photos showing how these historic places and buildings look today.

Hitlers Heimatland is a perfect handbook for a self-guided tour of the area, or for people reading heavily on the subject of Hitler’s early years (birth to age 25), the Nazi Party, German history, etc.

* Austria and Germany had been politically unified for centuries as part of the Holy Roman Empire.
