This is a nice example of the very rare 7-1/4 x 9-3/4 inch, 108 or so page (unnumbered) heavily illustrated soft cover photo book called Adolf Hitler 20 April 1889-1939 and published in a limited edition of only 30,000 copies by German car manufacturer Auto Union of Chemnitz, Germany.
The book is a glowing tribute to Germany’s 23rd Chancellor Adolf Hitler using rare photographs interspersed with poignant quotes from Hitler speeches and his book Mein Kampf. The book was presented by Auto-Union in commemoration of the 50th birthday of Adolf Hitler.
The quality of the large seldom-seen photos is exceptional and the quotations are beautifully printed in maroon ink on fancy art paper. Photographs include Hitler as a baby, Hitler’s birth house in Braunau, Hitler in school, Hitler in 1914 in Munich, Hitler in the Army, Heinrich Himmler manning the barbed wire on the day of the Putsch, Hitler in prison in Landsberg, Hitler speaking to the newly reformed Nazi Party, Hitler as Chancellor, Hitler on the Reichsautobahn, Hitler with Auto-Union workers, the Honor Temple and its SS guard, Hitler donating money, the new House of German Art, Hitler at the Olympics, reunification with Austria, Reichs Party Day, Hitler and Mussolini, the fall of Czechoslovakia, etc.
A remarkable, rare book. A few of the pages have traces of pencil notes on them, but very, very light. There are two pieces of scotch tape on the spine. This book has a printed dust jacket like a Heinrich Hoffmann photo book. This is the best of the Adolf Hitler 50th birthday books. Very good condition, dust jacket is fair.
