There are only a few rare things published during the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler to which you can find the name of Reinhard Heydrich attached. This is one of them. Heydrich was not a shy man and he was a very capable writer, but he was also the most successful policeman in the world, the elected head of the International Federation of Police and he had not the slightest interest in publicity or politics. He was the consummate professional police administrator and second only to Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler in real power in Nazi Germany.

In 1939 the Schulungsbrief magazine devoted a complete issue to the subject of freemasonry. The introduction by Reinhard Heydrich explains that Freimaurerei or Masonic Formations had always been a threat to the NSDAP (Nazi Party) and that the background information for this study was gleaned from the copious archives of the Sicherheitsdienst (Security Service or SD) of the Reichsführer-SS and the Geheime Staatspolizei (Secret State Police or Gestapo). Heydrich finished by saying that the material presented in the nearly 50 pages of this magazine is but a glimpse of what he knew about the subject.

The subject of freemasonry is dealt with in depth with chapters like:

“Masonic Practice and Education”, “Oriental Basis of Freemasonry”, “History of European Freemasonry”, “Freemasonry and the Emancipation of the Jews”, “Masonic Lodges and National Socialism”, “Freemasonry and World Politics”, “Freemasonry and the Vatican”, “Influences of Freemasonry in our Political and Economic Life”. Sub chapters deal with “Affiliated Organizations” (in which Heydrich includes Odd Fellows, Druids, Schlaraffia, Rotary, etc.) and the confrontational aspects of Freemasonry and National Socialism.

There are quotations from Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler and a list of international political figures who were both freemasons and Jews or freemasons and anti-German.

This study is far and away the most comprehensive and revealing of any we are aware of printed during the Third Reich in Germany. The rare 68 year old magazine measures about 8 x 11 inches, contains 48 pages and many, many illustrations. Cover shows a little wear, contents very good condition.
