,,DER HEIL GRUß - SEINE ART UND BEDEUTUNG (The Form and Meaning of the Nazi Heil Greeting) was written by Alfred Richter and published by Verlag Kurt Hartmann in Dresden (undated, but probably mid-1930s). In text, photos and photo captions this book explains how the Heilgruß came to be, how to perform the salute in an acceptable way (Hitler developed several acceptable styles) and how NOT to do it. |
There was an acceptable form for returning the salute when seated in a car and in other unusual circumstances. |
Author Richter ties the Hitler Greeting into the runic alphabet letters I and K with ,,Heil Hitler!, ,,Heil Deutschland!, ,,Heil Germanien in der Welt!. He also traces the salute back to Egyptian Priests and to an ancient German Wahrsagerin (fortune teller) in 9 BC. |
