To combat gas dangers during World War II, the Volksgasmaske (People's Gas Mask) was manufactured in Nazi Germany, issued by the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (Hermann Göring's Air Ministry). The Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB or State Air Protection League) was the state agency to sell the masks, and see to it that the owner could use them.
