Ernst Vollbehr Third Reich art
Ernst Vollbehr, An den Fronten des Lebens Aus den Tagebücher des Tropen- und Kriegsmaler
Ernst Vollbehr
Nazi art Organisation Todt construction project
Vollbehr studied in Berlin, Dresden, Munich, Rome and Paris and began painting professionally at that time. He traveled the world before returning to Germany and painting the German side of World War I. With the coming of the Nazis in Germany, Vollbehr was busier than ever and this book contains examples of his work in all periods.
U-Boot pens in France
Ernst Vollbehr was very much a contemporary of Adolf Hitler, having painted World War I at the front lines. Vollbehr went on to paint a wide variety of other subjects including the tropics, the Reichsautobahn, Reichs Party Days, and Organisation Todt in its operations in the Soviet Union and building the U-Boot pens in France.
This 5-7/8 x 8-1/4 inches, 80 page illustrated soft cover book tells the story of the painter's life from his birth in Kiel in 1876 through its publication in 1942 or so. An den Fronten des Lebens Aus den Tagebücher des Tropen- und Kriegsmaler (At the Frontline of Life - from the Dairy of the Painter of the Tropics and War, Ernst Vollbehr) was published by the Luftwaffenführungsstab 1c/VIII by Schwarzhäupter-Verlag of Leipzig in the mid 1940s.
It is rare to find anything objective about the work of Ernst Vollbehr since he was so closely associated with Adolf Hitler during the most productive part of his career.

Very nice used condition.
