The 508th PIR ended the war not far from Weiden, Germany and Bauscher was only partly damaged during the war, so they were no doubt a logical selection for elements of the unit to have this souvenir of their WW2 service produced.
This is an absolutely authentic, very rare German-made World War II piece and not some modern imitation. It is a genuine 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division porcelain beer mug in near-perfect used condition exactly as manufactured for elements of the regiment in 1945 by Bauscher-Weiden, one of the oldest and best known and respected German porcelain manufacturers not bombed entirely out of existence during World War II
The Bauscher-Weiden logo on the bottom of the mug is that used from about 1939 until the introduction of a new one in July of 1945. There is a lot of information online about Bauscher’s production during the Third Reich and immediately after the war, including the logo’s the company used.
