This is a very nice example of the rare 10-3/4 x 14 inch, 96 page, very heavily illustrated soft cover special edition of the West Front soldier magazine ,,Der Durchbruch’’ entitled ,,Nach Frankreich Hinein!''. It commemorates the invasion and quick victory of German Wehrmacht forces over the nation of France in 1940.

In a matter of days in June 1940, German Armed Forces units of the Army, Luftwaffe and Waffen-SS crossed through the dense Ardennes forest in Belgium, made an end-run around the impregnable Maginot Line fortifications and pulverized the enormous French Army that had been assembled, trained and fortified in its defenses for over 20 years!

In maps, huge photos and colorful illustrations this special edition of a very popular German soldier magazine tells the story of the incredible victory of the men of the German 9th Army in France. It features the hard-fought campaigns of all the services - Infantry, Artillery, tanks, assault units, the Luftwaffe, etc.

There are photographs of French citizens looting their own shops and towns in the wake of battle, the black African troops sent to the front by French politicians to defend the country (referred to as “France’s dark helpers”, shown left), French prisoners of war, and the extremely humiliating surrender of France in the railway wagon at Compiègne, etc.
