This is a beautifully made, machine woven gold and tan tapestry or wall hanging measuring approximately 18 x 41 inches. It features an early Ritter or knight on horseback in front of a castle blowing a bugle below two large swastikas and above the words Deutschland erwache! (Germany Awakes!).
The wall hanging is made with an integral loop at the top and the bottom so it can be suspended between two rods or dowels. It was no doubt made and sold for use in homes and public places like offices, restaurants, bars, etc.
This piece was used very little and is in splendid original condition without staining, discoloration, holes or damage. The tan background threads appears to be cotton while the golden threads have a shinier appearance like silk or synthetic fiber. An excellent early Nazi piece in very good used condition.
