HITLER AWARD DOCUMENT

This is a very nice original 11-3/4 x 16-1/2 inch (folds to 8-1/4 x 11-3/4 inch) Nazi award document “Im Namen des Deutschen Volkes’’ with a large embossed 3-1/8 inch eagle and swastika state seal and a printed or autopen signature of Adolf Hitler.

The certificate is dated 14 May 1938 and accompanied the award of the Gold Loyal Service Medal for 40 years of faithful service to the Deutsche Reichsbahn (German Railways), to Reichsbahninspektor Max Gelmroth of Kalteneck.

We do not have the medal but we show it above for your reference.

An excellent Führer und Reichskanzler certificate in very good condition.

THE DIENSTAUSWEIS OF AN ITALIAN GUESTWORKER ON THE
DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN

As the war dragged on past 1943, more and more German workers were conscripted for service in the Wehrmacht and their civilian jobs were filled by foreign “guest workers”. The guest worker concept is still alive and well in Germany, even today.

This rare Deutsche Reichsbahn Dienstausweis ( German Railways Service Identity Document) was issued in Wilhelmshaven on 11 November 1944 to 19 year old Italian guestworker Ferdinando Boccatonda.

Please note that when the Reichsbahn issued this Ausweis, they crossed out the words Ostarbeiter (Eastern Worker), Pole, and Protektoratsangehöriger (resident of Bohemia or Moravia) and left the word Ausländer (foreigner) at the top of the Ausweis.

A typed entry on the backside of this Nazi identity document lists Boccatonda’s address as the “barracks” at the sports grounds in Wilhelmshaven. Scotch taped down the center of the 4 x 5-1/2 inch pink card. Good condition.

THREE GERMAN RAILWAYS
IDENTITY DOCUMENTS

This grouping consists of three separate German Railways identity documents involving two people. The first document is a 4 x 5-3/4 inch Nazi era Deutsche Reichbahn (German Railways) Personenausweis (Personal Identity Document) number 8 issued at Berlin-Tegel on 5 May 1939 to Mrs. Meta Netzeband, wife of Deutsche Reichbahn Switchman, Wilhelm Netzeband.

The validity of this pass, which allowed Mrs. Netzeband to ride free on the Reichsbahn, was extended on the back side (shown right).

Items 2 and 3 in this grouping are the 4 x 5-7/8 inch, 4-panel Personalausweise of both Wilhelm and Meta Netzeband issued on 25 March 1946 by the Polizeipräsident in Berlin at Polizeirevier 297. The Ausweis of Wilhelm Netzeband shows him in his Deutsche Reichsbahn tunic and visor cap.

Good condition.
