The 1 August 1944 Deutsche Illustrierte was printed soon after the 20 July plot to kill Hitler and has a Mahnung or “warning” article about the event with photos of Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler and Generaloberst Guderian. There is also a photo article about a young Panzervernichtungabzeichen or Tank Destruction Badge recipient, and Kriegsmarine ships and enemy torpedos.
10th anniversary issue of the historic Nazi take over of power
This lot consists of two Deutsche Illustrierte issues dated 26 January 1943 and 1 August 1944 with large cover photos featuring Adolf Hitler surrounded by Nazi officials and Wehrmacht soldiers.

The 26 January 1943 Deutsche Illustrierte is the 10th anniversary issue of the historic Machtsübernahme in January 1933 and contains a photo filled article highlighting those 10 years. It also has a story about the methods of the British Secret Service and Japanese pearls.
Each issue measures 11 x 14-3/4 inches and consists of 8 pages of photo features, interesting reading, advertising, jokes and cartoons. The newspapers were published in Berlin and sold on newsstands throughout Germany. Just to the left of the masthead is an outlined box in which it says “When you’ve finished reading Deutsche Illustrierte send it on to a soldier you know. The front thanks you.”

Both original World War II era Nazi newspapers are complete and in very good used condition, no odor.
This lot consists of two Deutsche Illustrierte issues dated 10 August 1943 and 14 December 1943 with large cover photos featuring SS men taken by SS-Kriegsberichter or war correspondents.

The 10 August 1943 Deutsche Illustrierte with the three well-armed and well-equipmed Grenadiere on the cover had articles about the heavy fighting and tank battles on the Eastern Front, and the Kuban bridgehead. There are photos of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel in Greece, Grossadmiral Dönitz with young men of the Marine-HJ and Korpsführer der NSFK Generaloberst Keller.
DEUTSCHE ILLUSTRIERTE 10 August & 14 December 1943
The 14 December 1943 Deutsche Illustrierte with the photo of a young SS man receiving Christmas gifts on the cover has articles about Nazi submarine torpedos (nicknamed ‘eels’), Feldpost (“The Bridge between Front and Home”) and photos of heavy fighting on the Ostfront, Nazi submarines, naval artillery, Nazi Staatsminister Frank congratulating President Dr. Hacha, and more.
This lot consists of two Deutsche Illustrierte issues dated 26 October 1943 and 25 January 1944 with rare cover photos featuring soldiers of the Russian Liberation Army (POA, a collaborationist formation that fought under German command during World War II) with mines in their hands and Oberstleutnant Graf von der Goltz, recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves.

It also contains an extremely anti-Jewish article about the Jewish speech writers of FDR accompanied by unflattering, stereotypical illustrations.

The 25 January 1944 Deutsche Illustrierte has articles and photos of minesweepers in the Arctic Sea, famous German engineer, aircraft engine manufacturer and aviator Hellmuth Hirth, KdF entertainers at the front, and more. This newspaper contains a rare photo showing Hitler shaking the hand of Generalmajor Adalbert Schulz when he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds. The photo was taken on 9 January 1944, which was also the day he was promoted to Generalmajor and made commander of the 7th Panzer Division, 19 days before his battlefield death in western Ukraine!

Other photos show damage after an American bombing raid in the Harz, civilians ‘fleeing’ from Anglo-American troops in southern Italy, etc.

This lot consists of two Deutsche Illustrierte issues dated 20 May 1941 and 25 November 1941 with cover photos of a Luftwaffe pilot with goggles and a Werhmacht artillery man on the Soviet front lines.

The 20 May 1941 edition of Deutsche Illustrierte has 16 pages including a center spread of photos of Hitler thanking the leaders of his armies, Erwin Rommel, Hermann Göring, Field Marshal von Brauchitsch, Artillery General Jodl and others, during a Reichstag speech. There is a photo article about German Youth Hostels and in the middle of an article on page 4 is a request printed in bold lettering to forward the Deutsche Illustrierte after you have finished reading it to a soldier or an NSDAP Blockleiter who can send it to the front.
The 12-page 25 November 1941 Deutsche Illustrierte including a center spread of photos showing Hitler in the Löwenbräu beer hall Munich addressing fellow party members, as well as fighting and battle damage in the Soviet Union.
