The 130+ black & white photos in this book tell the story of the life and death of Paul von Hindenburg, President of Germany, and the man who appointed Adolf Hitler as Chancellor of Germany in 1933.
Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg was born in Posen in 1847, he rolled through he ranks to become one of the Kaiser's most influential soldiers and advisors during World War I. As President of Germany he realized in the early 1930s that the country of Germany was a battleground being fought for by Communists and National Socialists, and was the brink of civil war. Because of the strength of the Nazis elected to the Reichstag, he appointed their Führer Adolf Hitler as Germany's 23rd Chancellor, setting the stage for the German Third Reich.
The books ends with the death of Von Hindenburg and his burial at
Tannenberg in August of 1934 (right). The rest, as they say, is history.
This extremely rare cased book is in phenomenal condition, complete with its original tissue dust jacket, in its original chipboard case. Hard to find in any condition.
