A VARIETY OF NAZI ARBEITSBÜCHER
(PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT RECORD BOOKS)
FROM VARIOUS THIRD REICH GERMAN
INDUSTRIES, GOVERNMENT BUREAUS, ETC.
|
Third Reich Arbeitsbücher (Employment Record Books) are by themselves among the commonest Nazi identity documents of the Hitler era in Germany. Collectors have found however, that those Arbeitsbücher associated with famous or notorious people or employers are highly desirable. What better compliment can there be to a magnificent Mauser rifle or Walther pistol than the Arbeitsbuch of one the craftsman that built the weapon? For a historian or collector involved with antique or classic cars from the period, there is no accessory more desirable or more historic than the Arbeitsbuch of one of the workers in the factory that built the machine.
The selection below includes Arbeitsbücher from a variety of individuals employed in Third Reich companies. Each entry contains basic data and a price delivered to any address in the United States. If you have other questions about any of the books, please inquire. |

DECORATOR AND CLOTHING SALESMAN
This 1st Style Nazi Arbeitsbuch number 338/19426 was issued to Leonhard Gräbner by the Employment Office of Karlsruhe on 2 September 1935. He was a salesman and decorator in several different clothing stores from 1925 until August 1936 when he moved to Munich to start a job at the famous Münchner Lodenfabrik, manufacturer of high-quality coats and clothing, as well as Nazi uniforms. Gräbner was a salesman at Münchner Lodenfabrik until 30 September 1945, the last entry in this Nazi era employment record.

This 2nd Style Nazi Arbeitsbuch once belonged to Franz Winterholler who was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on 3 October 1917. When this Nazi employment record was issued on 26 Agust 1940 he was a single man, employed as a painter. While using this Arbeitsbuch he married and in August 1941 he took a job for Bayerische Zugspitzbahn, the company that runs the cable car at the famous Zugspitze mountain near Garmisch. He worked there until his death (Gefallen) on 24 October 1944. As many people from this mountainous area in Bavaria joined Gebirgsjäger troops, we suspect that when war broke out when Winterholler was in his early twenties he too joined the Nazi Mountain Troops and fell for Führer und Vaterland on 24.10.44.
The company is still in business today in Munich under the name Loden-Frey. Very good original condition. $55.00 delivered in the USA.
Very good original condition. **SOLD**
This 2nd Style Nazi Arbeitsbuch was issued to Mrs. Kubeczka (née Grnak, 1921) on 24 November 1939 in Vienna. As she was born in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (Czechoslovakia) it was noted on page 1 that she was "Nicht Reichsdeutscher". After Böhmen und Mähren became part of Hitler's Grossdeutschland her nationality became German and this was noted in her employment record.
There are entries for seamstress jobs at ladies clothing stores from 1938 until 1940. In 1941 she went to work in a Nazi uniform factory in Vienna, right until the last days of the war! Mrs. Kubeczka kept using her Nazi Arbeitsbuch until 1956!
Very good original condition. **SOLD**
Even if you ran your own company in Third Reich Germany, you had to had an Arbeitsbuch and fill it out for yourself. & FRENCH OCCUPATION FORCES
It is no wonder this 2nd Style Nazi Arbeitsbuch is somewhat beat-up! It was used by Alfons Zeska from December 1939 until July 1950 when he worked for 16 different employers! Zeska was born in Prague on 11 December 1890 and was a cook who worked in the famous Sacher Hotel in Wien in 1940, and in other restaurants until the end of the war.
He worked for the Russian Occupation Forces from 4 December 1945 until 7 March 1948 and from 24 June until 31 July 1949 he was in charge of the kitchen at Hotel de France for the French military. His last job entry dated 1950 is from a ladies clothing store.
