Ordinary Nazi newspapers in the Third Reich Germany of Adolf Hitler carried a wide variety of news, information, features, advertising and cartoons, very similar to newspapers elsewhere at the time. German newspapers also carried frequent negative stories about Jews, and how their influence in German society had resulted in the destruction the values of that society. Foreign Jews were often singled out as war mongers bent on the total destruction of the country of Germany.

In addition to its regular newspapers, there were two newspapers in Nazi Germany that made anti-Semitism a central theme of their editorial content. They were Der Stürmer (The Stormer or The Attacker) published in Nürnberg by Frankenführer Julius Streicher, and Das Schwarze Korps (The Black Corps) published in Berlin by the Central Publishing House of the NSDAP, Franz Eher Nachfolger for the SS.

Streicher and his newspaper Der Stürmer were obsessed with Jews in the most negative possible way. The papers forte was the sensationalized “exposé” of wrongdoing, immorality, corruption, malfeasance, fraud and other misdeeds attributed to Jews. The paper carried many anti-Jewish photos, cartoons by “Fips” (Philipp Rupprecht) and advertising from firms selling “Nazi” products or those stressing the pro-German and/or anti-Jewish nature of their product or service.

Der Stürmer was infamous for its secondary masthead Die Juden sind unser Unglück! (The Jews Are Our Misfortune!) and other mastheads like “Women and Girls, the Jews are your Doom!”, and “When you Recognize a Jew, you Recognize the Devil!”.

The cartoonist “Fips” became famous in Germany drawing stereotypical cartoons of Jews doing horrible things to aryan people.

The newspapers we offer here are 100% original to the Third Reich period and each has been professionally laminated at substantial cost in order to preserve it. Without the lamination the highly acidic wood-pulp paper these 60+ year old newspapers were printed on would have crumbled already.

DER STÜRMER AUGUST 1935 Special Issue 2 (front page shown above) reports on the celebrated case of race-defiler Albert Hirschland, a Jew of Magdeburg who operated a commercial college and preyed upon the German girls who attended it. Convicted of having illicit sex with hundreds of them, he was sentenced to life in prison.

Size is 12-1/2 x 17 inches, eight pages. Very good condition.

By contrast, the focus of Das Schwarze Korps was far less sensational and much broader. Because it was the principal newspaper of the SS it took issue not only with Jews, but with capitalists, negroes, the British, Americans, war profiteers, internationalists, and anyone interested in advancing the concept of One-World government.

Das Schwarze Korps pushed the agenda of the SS in terms of things like racial hygiene, protection of all things Germanic and a strong military defense, always warning that Germany’s enemies were poised to flood the country with “Untermensch” or undesirable people.

DER STÜRMER MAY 1935 Issue 19 (front page shown directly above) reports on Jewish ritual murder, has three Fips cartoons, an article about Jewish hatred against Adolf Hitler, photo of German schoolgirls writing anti-Jewish sayings on the chalkboard, getting Jewish books out of the libraries, Jews in Flanders, advertising BIR SALEM JAFFA oranges as being “from German gardens”, an ad for a Nazi swastika ring, etc.
