NSDAP home front gift
AN AUTHENTIC
NAZI PARTY
SCARF OF A TYPE
SENT TO GERMAN
LANDSERS AND
WAFFEN-SS
TROOPS AT THE
FRONT IN
WORLD WAR II
This is a very rare grouping, and it is hard to believe that it survived for almost 65 years after it was first sent to a Wehrmacht radio man at the front.
The grouping consists of a standard tan 6-3/8 x 8-1/2 inch envelope, a note, and a silk scarf that measures about 7 x 24 inches.
NSDAP Feldpost
Waffen-SS
The envelope was postmarked on 8 July 1942 at Halle on the Saale River (home town of SS General Reinhard Heydrich) and bears the return address of the NSDAP Ortsgruppe Wasserturm-Süd in Halle. It was addressed to Funker Werner Teutschbein at Feldpostnummer 24283.

The note in the envelope containing the scarf is from the NSDAP Ortsgruppenleiter, bears the date July 1942 and is addressed to “Dear Comrade” (Lieber Kamerad!). The text mentions that the troops are not forgotten and the handmade gift enclosed. The Ortsgruppenleiter said he hoped that all was well with the recipient and that he would return home safely.

If one looks through photographs of German soldiers at the front many will be found showing Wehrmacht Landsers and Waffen-SS troops wearing NSDAP gift scarfs similar to this one. Absolutely original in every respect and in good condition.
