The enormous German industrial-chemical conglomerate IG Farbenindustrie of Frankfurt am Main was able to claim many famous international brand names among the products it manufactured. Everything from Agfa film and still and motion picture cameras, to Bayer aspirin, cellophane, dye, gasoline and even Buna rubber. THEY WERE ALSO THE COMPANY CHOSEN BY THE NAZIS TO BUILD AND RUN AUSCHWITZ CONCENTRATION CAMP.

Offered for sale on this USMBOOKS web page is an unusual piece of Third Reich ephemera. It is a May 1938 letter from the Presseabteilung or press publicity department of IG Farbenindustrie Aktiengesellschaft in Berlin announcing and promoting a new book called Erzeugnisse unsere Arbeit (The Product of Our Labor) which originally accompanied this letter. Erzeugnisse unsere Arbeit was published in 1938 to give employees, customers and ordinary Germans an idea of the truly enormous scope of the IG Farben enterprise. The book traces the origins of the 125,000 employee company from its early days in the soda and aniline businesses to world leadership in many industrial products during the Third Reich of Adolf Hitler.

The letter mentions that Erzeugnisse unsere Arbeit would not be available in bookstores but that every employee of IG Farben would receive a free copy on 1 May 1938. We suspect the example of Erzeugnisse unsere Arbeit that accompanied this letter was for an archive of the Nazi Party.
