Virtually all of the publications of the Auslands-Organisation der NSDAP (AO) are rare today because it was considered a particularly dangerous entity by the Allied de-Nazification teams that attempted to purge defeated Germany of Nazi influences in 1945. The organization was created by Hitler to spread the Nazi gospel to and through foreign Germans and ethnic Germans living outside Grossdeutschland. Examples of the large 9-1/2 x 13 inch very, very heavily illustrated AO monthly magazine Deutsches Wollen (The German Will) are very difficult to find in the 21st century.

The lot of two Deutsches Wollen 24-page AO magazines we offer here consists of Year 2, Issue 1 of January 1940 and Year 3, Issue 1 of January 1941. Both Nazi magazines have remarkable full-color Knabe illustrations on the front covers.

Among the illustrated articles in these two issues of Deutsches Wollen are Europe between Crisis and Decision, AO Work Abroad, British Israel, the Bremen Runs the Blockade, German Support of Spain, Our U-Boots, Cultural Work in Wartime, the Leipzig Exhibition, the Probationary Examination of Ordnungspolizei (Nazi Order Police), Baby Care by the NSV, German Socialism in Foreign Lands, current photos, etc., etc.
Each issue contains about 10 pages of advertising for everything from IG Farben's Bayer division to snap fasteners and saw blades to Olympic Festival Halls for 4000 people that could be erected in ten days.

These two very rare AO magazines are complete and in nice condition.
Also for sale on USMBOOKS.com, Auslands-Organisations Yearbooks (1940, 1941 & 1942), a 1936 book about the permanent Nazi AO exhibition in Stuttgart dedicated to
Germans and German culture abroad
, and many original Third Reich magazines.
